last week, we received our GCE 'A' Level Results.
And I guess I did okay.
Not too bad.
It was better than what I had expected. I honestly expected Bs and Cs. Probably I just have reaally low self-esteem. Uh, but it didn't turn out that way.
So, yay! :D
contemplating whether I should reveal my results here.. and after some thought, I guess I shan't.
But in case you're curious, I scored 85/90 points (excluding Chinese).
:)
Also super proud that our batch did pretty well. Congrats to everyone who obtained their desired results, and to those who did not, it's okay because I believe you had put your best foot forward already.
Now comes the really challenging thing about choosing a uni course + applying for scholarship.
The problem: I have no end in mind. I honestly have no clear idea what I want to do in the future even as I'm typing right now. I am secretly hoping that blogging might actually somehow help me figure my way out in life (just like how it had done so a few times previously).
Some things I am clear about at this point in time though:
1. I'm looking into a local uni course. Yeah I'm probably patriotic or just too scared to live independently. But whichever the reason, I'm pretty fixed about this. Sadly, my dad is encouraging me to go overseas to build some independence and undergo a different education style where things are taught differently as compared to Singapore.
2. Career prospect is unclear. But definitely a pretty stable job, with reasonable pay. Can be repetitive or not; this doesn't quite bother me because I'm quite okay with doing the same things everyday actually lol. Yes I'm actually quite a boring person. So a boring job might fit me quite well too. Haha. Challenging at times probably, so that I can keep my brain working such that I won't get early dementia or something hahahhaa.
3. Something in Science & Maths. With or without engineering? That I'm not too sure. I know I'm not really into Physics, but more into Chemistry & Biology. However, Biology is a memory-based subject and I really doubt my own capabilities in memorizing. I really wish Bio was a non-examinable subject so that I could literally study it for fun, for my own pleasure. So my ranking for Sciences would basically go something like:
Chemistry > Biology > Physics
It might seem quite weird to some since I took H2 Physics in JC, not Biology. I've always been interested in Biology though.. So I'm not sure if I should really pursue my interest (which I don't know if it will be short-lived) or just be practical.
Basically, a few dilemmas I have now:
a. Bio or non-Bio courses? Because I might be disadvantaged compared to those who took Bio in JC/Poly. And if I fail at memorizing Bio, i'm gonna struggle for that 4 years or so leh. Which is really terrible. And what if my interest is short-lived?
b. Engineering* or Pure Science course? Because an engineering course seems to open more doors (not to mention the seemingly higher pay and authority), whereas a science course seems to be more inflexible. Engineering courses involve Phy (ugh...) & Math (which I'm okay with), while a pure science course is basically science lah. So in all practical sense, it seems logical to take up Engineering courses right? But i'm not really keen leh coz it all seems kinda dry to me :/
c. (not really relevant to choosing courses but..) Should I live in hostels?
*engineering referring to a science + engineering coz e.g. chem engineering
4. If I do go into teaching, I'll probably apply after Unis.
5. I'm kind of hoping for a scholarship.
6. I need to make decisions faster as the deadlines are approaching.
Oh btw, I got a new laptop. Likely to be for my uni use. I'm using it right now to type this blog post. Yay :)
Okay, I think enough of rants/crap for today.
Bye! :)
